How do you recommend cleaning SpeedSkin covers?

The best way to clean SpeedSkin covers is with cool water and a mild solution of PineSol, Lysol, Simple Green or Ivory dish soap. They should then be air dried or gently patted dry.

How can I tell which cover version I should order?

There are only four cover versions that fit 99% of all keyboards:

How durable are SpeedSkin covers?

SpeedSkin covers and the language layout imprinting have been laboratory tested and certified to 1 million impacts with no discernible wear, so they are a certifiably durable investment.

Does SpeedSkin provide a free sample of its blank covers?

Yes, but only to schools and only blank covers and only one cover per school.  We need to know by email at info@speedskin.com (not by phone) the kind of keyboard sample you would like and the complete school address to which it should be sent.

What if my cover doesn’t fit?

Be sure that you have removed the cover from its clear, plastic storage tray. If so, and it still doesn't fit, then there are three possibilities.

1)   You have a defective cover that has not been cut properly along the edges. If there are any horizontal extensions from the vertical drop preventing the cover from laying properly, then there is a manufacturing defect and you can call us (800.558.7601) for a return materials authorization (RMA) number;

2)   Your laptop key size or configuration is different than the standard laptops. If that is the case and you wish to return it, please also call us for an RMA number.

3)   If you can provide SpeedSkin with a model number, we can check to see if it will work with another version of our covers and we can exchange it.

4)   It was mispicked from our fulfillment location. Please check you packing slip to see if the description matches the product you ordered. If not, please call 800.558.7601 to arrange for an exchange.

Will SpeedSkin covers warp?

They will warp over time 1) if they are not stored properly on the storage tray that accompanies each cover, and 2) and if stored in too warm a place and without the storage tray.

What is a Dvorak layout?

Below is a link that explains how the right- / left-hand Dvorak keyboards work. These layouts are different in that the keys are arranged in a frequency-of-use “bull’s eye” to increase efficiency and reduce finger extensions. One selects either the right-, left-, or two-handed Dvorak layouts in the Window’s operating system and then uses the corresponding SpeedSkin cover imprinted with the corresponding Dvorak layout (right, left or two-handed layout) and then keyboards accordingly. When the Dvorak layout(s) is/are selected, the DV icons appear on the task bar along with an EN for English which allows you to toggle back and forth between English, and the Dvorak layouts. There are also specialized keyboards made with these layouts. Our covers will be more cost effective by allowing you to keep the underlying QWERTY layout for other students.

Does SpeedSkin provide a free demo of its TypingMaster / SpeedSkin Edition software?

Yes, SpeedSkin will provide a full-version, 25-workstation (unlimited number of student per station), six-week demo, complete with teacher tools upon receipt of an email request to info@speedskin.com.   This is an 8- to 12-hour program. Thus, the six-week demo period permits a test group to use the entire program on a trial basis.

*If you cannot purchase the program within the six-week trial period, please be sure to download your student data to an Excel file before the demo period expires.

What is the difference between TypingMaster / SpeedSkin Edition and other keyboarding software(s)?

Customer feedback indicates that it is superior because it is compelling and instruction-driven without distracting video-game elements. Students do not compete with dragons, space cadets, etc.  Each competes only with him/herself. These fun and challenging instructional drills, games and tests work from fourth grade to adult.
